Gina DeNoble vintage Jazz
Gina DeNoble began singing jazz standards all the way back in high school. Her introduction to jazz, however, was not as a vocalist. She started out playing jazz trumpet at the age of 14. Her jazz band instructor knew she was also involved in musical theater and choir, so began inviting Gina to sing certain pieces the jazz band was preparing. Alternating on stage between trumpet and vocal parts was a unique and enriching experience that Gina cherishes to this day.
Now, over 20 years later, Gina has built upon that early introduction to jazz, and is offering her voice alongside a variety of exceptional instrumentalists.
She is currently under the tutelage of vocalists Paula Byrne, Greta Matassa, Laura Stilwell, and pianist Darin Clendenin. In addition, she often plays in jam settings with some of the regions most talented musicians such as Vince Frates, Ron Steen, Max Tucker, Paul Ward, Tim Gilson, Kurt Deutscher, Dennis Caiazza, Joe Millward, Dave Captein, Mike Doolin, and others.
Gina’s voice has been described as resonant, sultry, and one of a kind. She combines booming money notes with intricate melodies, nimble dynamics, and a deep, bluesy undertone. She feels strongly connected to the standards, and aims to deliver this beloved vintage music in a way that you won’t soon forget.
