Frequently Asked Q's

Oh, I am so glad you asked! 🙂 The vocal mechanism is connected to the entire body via fascia. Fascia is an extremely thin biological tissue that encases every muscle, organ, and blood vessel. When we move our whole body regularly, this fascial tissue remains hydrated and pliable. When our fascial tissue is hydrated and pliable, all the components of our body function more efficiently…including our vocal mechanism!

Additionally, singing is essentially breathing with a controlled exhale. This is similar to certain types of pranayama carried out when we practice of yoga. Learning to control our breath, and coordinate breathing with other body movements, is one of the most effective means by which we can reach the goal of efficient singing.

As a bonus, vocalizations such as singing, chanting, and humming help tone our vagus nerve. Vagal tone is the ease with which our body is able to achieve parasympathetic dominance (i.e., engagement of the “rest and digest” branch of our autonomic nervous system). When we are in a state of parasympathetic dominance, many of our body systems function more effectively, and a neurological “flow state” based on alpha waves is more easily achieved (Komori, 2018). When “flow state” is achieved, the benefits come full circle and actually improve the efficiency of singing.

No problem! If you are here, that means you are curious, and have an intuition that yoga could be helpful for you…and that is wonderful! I always endeavor to meet clients where they are, especially if that is at the very beginning. I remember my first yoga teacher, and would be honored to be the one who introduces you to yoga.

At this point, I am teaching only online. If I begin to offer in-person classes at an established studio, I will announce that via my email list as well as on social media!

If you are currently experiencing medical or mental health symptoms that are serious, I will recommend you check with your doctor or therapist prior to beginning (or altering) a yoga practice. Once your doctor/therapist clears you for yoga, we can begin our work! If it becomes apparent during our work that you may need a higher level of support, such as from a doctor or therapist, I will be happy to refer you, and work in conjunction with other members of your care team.

I currently accept payment via Venmo (@ginadenoble) and PayPal. If you do not use these platforms, let me know, and we can explore other payment options!

Everything I do is offered on a sliding scale. If there is an offering you really want to access, but it’s just not in the budget, please contact me. We will figure something out. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.
